What Is Compost tea?

Compost tea is considered to be liquid gold when it comes to natural fertilizers for flowers, houseplants, vegetables and crops, as it produces high quality produce, flowers, and foliage.

Compost tea – there are a number of things that come to mind when you think of these words, and you probably thought that the world of organic gardening had gone a little crazy.

Despite the inclusion of the word “tea”, compost tea isn’t for people; you can’t drink it, it’s for plants.

For many centuries, gardeners have concocted unique solutions of garden teas.

But even though this idea is nothing new, the practice of aerating compost tea is (which you’ll be able to read about later).

Simply speaking, compost tea is a nutritionally rich and well-balanced organic liquid (this is only if you use organic certified compost) that acts as a healthy supplement to your flora and fauna.

Created by just steeping good quality compost in water, compost tea can be used throughout the year no matter what the season is therefore it makes for the perfect organic liquid fertilizer.

The great thing about compost tea is you don’t have to spend a fortune on it. In fact, you can make your own at home as long as your compost has broken down properly into tiny particles.

How do you know if your compost is ready to be turned into compost tea? The
organic materials, which you’ve disposed of in your compost bin, will have
decomposed over time, resulting in a dark crumbly cornmeal consistency that smells not too dissimilar to rich earthy forest soil.
